“We create cohesive, thoughtful spaces with a focus on sustainability and collaboration that reflect the way you live and work.”
A Brighton based interior architecture and design studio, founded by Laura & Philip Stewart, the practice was born through a collaboration of their complementary disciplines, spatial thinking and the craft of the made object.
Initially completing formal Batchelor of Arts training in Interior Architecture & Design and Furniture Design respectively, they each spent 10 years working for a number of world renowned design studios before launching their own practice together over 15 years ago. They bring together an international depth of knowledge and wealth of experience to their high-end residential, hospitality and retail projects and have built a quiet reputation for creating interiors that are as thoughtfully considered as they are beautiful to live and work in.
The studio is known for its holistic approach with every project being treated as a piece of interior architecture rather than just decoration. Known for their rigourous, narrative-led design, Born Designers place client relationships at the centre of everything, ensuring that the spaces they create are truly personal, expressive and harmonious.
Alongside teaching posts held at Kingston and Middlesex Universities and the Royal College of Art on the Interior Design BA and MA courses, Laura is also Registered Interior Designer® with the British Institute of Interior Design.
Philip is also co-founder of Born Makers, an established workshop dedicated to the production of small-batch furniture, bespoke commissions and interior detailing, bringing an additional layer of craft and creative possibility to the studio's residential and commercial work, delivering results that endure for clients who want their homes and spaces to be genuinely exceptional.
